Touring Perth CountyStroll, pedal or drive through some of Ontario’s prettiest country lanes and byways, browse farm gate stands and visit towns brimming with unique Canadiana. Perth County is pretty as a postcard with well kept dairy and corn farms nicely framed by large stands of deciduous trees (the ones with the pretty colours) to create a richly hued panorama of the fall colour spectrum. Bike or drive and then stroll a while stopping at farm-gate stands, viewing late-blooming gardens, visiting some lovely 19th century architecture - Hoffmeyer's in Sebringville, the Fryfogel Inn, just outside Shakespeare, the charming discovery of St. Marys stonetown, the Fullarton Blacksmith Shop and the turn-of-the-century Castle Kilbride. We have some of Ontario’s best conserved heritage architecture throughout Stratford and Perth County from small-town churches, mills to stately homes and civic buildings. Make sure you visit the Ontario Maze, an amazing 45-acre corn maze with a “Shapes in Nature” design this year. Nelly and Ernst Hofer design and plant a truly original corn maze of great ingenuity on 45 acres, making it one of the largest corn mazes in North America. Come at night and bring a flashlight to roam the alleys and paths in the dark – it would do Stephen King proud.
