Savour Stratford, September 20 - 21Sip, Sample and Savour the best of Stratford’s culinary and arts culture celebrating our chefs, Perth County farmers, food artisans and the Stratford Chefs School’s 25th Anniversary Alumni Weekend. Enjoy two days of outdoor concerts, BBQs, and arts and craft shows nestled between the downtown heritage district in the heart of Stratford’s beautiful garden district and the Avon River. Enjoy all the Best of Perth County on Saturday, September 20. Cultivating good food since 1832, over 35 Perth County artisanal food makers will create a one-of-a-kind outdoor farmers’ market set along the banks of the Avon River. Local artisanal cheeses, breads, preserves, sausages and meats combined with fresh local fruits and vegetables will entice gourmet food lovers. Local artists and craftspeople will complement the day devoted to featuring the best of Perth County. Up the hill, legendary Perth County pork will be sizzling on outdoor BBQs all afternoon long with free outdoor concerts by county musicians. Wile away the Sunday afternoon at the York Street Tasting which will pair over 30 local chefs, including visiting alumni of the Stratford Chefs School, with 30 Perth County farmers. A bucolic afternoon of al fresco sampling of gourmet creations, Ontario wines and craft beers are complemented by the sounds of jazz under lounging tents set upon historic York Street. Mingle with special guests Margaret Webb, author of Apples to Oysters, food sleuth and author of Dish Marion Kane, Neil Baxter of Food Network Canada’s Chef School and Rundles, Chef Paul Finkelstein from Food Network’s Fink, Mairlyn Smith, author of Ultimate Food for Ultimate Health, Antony John from the Food Network’s Manic Organic and Soiled Reputation. Music and entertainment will be provided by Jake Leiske of Farmer’s Daughter and stars of The Stratford Shakespeare Festival.
