The second annual documentary and digital media festival takes place October 21st to October 25th 2009 with more than 20 films from Canada and around the world.

DocFest Stratford kicks off its 2009 edition with the Canadian premiere of William Shatner’s Gonzo Ballet, sponsored by A&E Television. The opening gala takes place Thursday, October 22nd at 8 p.m. (ET) at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival’s Avon Theatre. William Shatner is scheduled to attend to present the film. The film, which documents the unlikely partnership between Shatner, his musical collaborator Ben Folds and the Milwaukee Ballet, is one of more than 20 films from Canada and around the world that will be shown over the five-day festival in October.

Other notable films include Every Little Step as dancers struggle through the auditions for the Broadway revival of A Chorus Line; The Cove (director: Louie Psihoyos); Anvil: The Story of Anvil (director: Sacha Gervasi); Waterlife (director: Kevin McMahon); Paris 1919 (director: Paul Cowan); Hair India (Directors: Raffaele Brunetti and Marco Leopardi); and Experimental Eskimos (director: Barry Greenwald).
